What it is: Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
This website is a cool way to find the main points of any large amount of text, like a speech, essay or even a book, as long as you can find an online version so that you can copy and paste the text. You put in your text, and the words appear as an image. The most used words are the largest, making the main ideas easy to find. You can change the colors and layout as many times as you want. I've put my school essays into these to make sure my points are on topic. This site works really well. Very cool! But be warned- there's no way to find your wordle again after saving it, so you either have to print a hard copy or save the link to your Wordle, which will be in the address bar on the first screen after saving. If you want to save it as an image, you have to use some type of screenshot or screencapture tool.

If you click this image, it takes you to the full size version. I just can't seem to make this one bigger. Sorry for the inconvenience!
I pasted the text of Silent Spring by Rachel Carson into the box for this Wordle.
This youtube video isn't too bad. It goes over all the basic functions.
